Spina Bifida Resource
The Spina Bifida Resource was started in the 1970's, when a group of Moms met while their children had therapy.
As the needs and issues were discussed, the group decided to band together for support. Thus the Spina Bifida Association of Lancaster County was born. Our first public meeting had 45 parents and concerned professionals in attendance.
After about 20 years, the Board felt the need to change our name to reflect all those we served in and around Pennsylvania. Thus we became the Spina Bifida Association of Greater PA.
Our name was recently changed again, this time to focus on and strengthen our mission:
To promote the prevention of spina bifida and its secondary conditions and to enhance the life and health of those affected.
